Common Sleep Disorders
The most common sleep disorder is Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It happens because the muscles in your throat relax, blocking the flow of air to your lungs. This causes the amount of oxygen in your blood to drop. When your brain recognizes this, you may wake up with a choking, or gasping sound, then start breathing again and go back to sleep. It is common to be unaware that you woke up briefly. But when your sleep is upset throughout the night, you'll feel sleepy during the day.
